Understands RDF serializations as interchangeable encodings of a given set of triples (RDF graph). – Linked Data for Professional Education https://ld4pe.dublincore.org Learning resources tagged by competency Thu, 19 Nov 2020 14:45:03 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.9.16 Level Up: Online CSV to RDF Converter (Beta) https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/level-up-online-csv-to-rdf-converter-beta/ Fri, 18 Aug 2017 08:22:56 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/level-up-online-csv-to-rdf-converter-beta/ This online converter for CSV files was created for the many people out there who are big supporters of "Open Data" but are uncomfortable with getting that data into a format that can be used for Linked Data (regardless of whether it was open or not). Whilst many are happy with saving tabular data as CSV files, a surprising amount are still fairly mystified by saving that same data in RDF format. For more information about "Why RDF?", "What's Linked Open Data?" and similar questions – please have a read of the FAQ; this page concentrates on how to use the converter options to tweak the RDF output. The final step is to simply download a zip file of the converted CSV. The zip file includes the data in three formats – RDF, Turtle (.ttl) and N-Triples (.nt).

Introduction to Linked Data https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/introduction-to-linked-data-3/ Fri, 05 May 2017 06:59:13 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/introduction-to-linked-data-3/ This paper describes Linked Data and how the "Web of Documents" can be transformed into a "Web of Data". This approach is contrasted with the limited opportunities for linking data in traditional MARC-based bibliographic records. It includes a brief explanation of LD principles and standards, then explains how data can be embedded into HTML in several RDF serializations.

Linked Data Basics for Techies https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/linked-data-basics-for-techies/ Thu, 29 Dec 2016 06:44:04 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/linked-data-basics-for-techies/ This guide is intended to be a crash course for a techie/programmer who needs to learn the basics ASAP. It is not intended as an introduction for managers or policy makers. It is primarily aimed at people who are tasked with creating RDF and need information quickly. It is also useful to people who want to work with RDF data.

Loading Semantic Triples https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/loading-semantic-triples/ Fri, 15 Apr 2016 23:37:50 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/loading-semantic-triples/ This is the third chapter in MarkLogic's "Semantic Developer's Guide". It describes how to load triples into a MarkLogic database from two sources; from an XML document that contains embedded triples elements, or from a triples file containing serialized RDF data. Includes a selection on supported RDF Triple Formats and using a REST client to perform CRUD operations.

Semantic Web Languages and Standards https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/semantic-web-languages-and-standards/ Sat, 16 Jan 2016 13:43:29 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/semantic-web-languages-and-standards/ This lecture covers a lot of ground- from very basic to quite advanced. It begins by attempting to define the Semantic Web and explain its basic principles, which leads to a discussion of Linked Data and the principles which underpin it. The RDF data model is briefly described before moving on to how vocabularies are designed and reasoned over using RDF Schema and OWL.

Introducing SPARQL: Querying the Semantic Web https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/introducing-sparql-querying-the-semantic-web/ Fri, 15 Jan 2016 13:27:05 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/introducing-sparql-querying-the-semantic-web/ While dated and not covering SPARQL 1.1 and its improvements, this resource may still be a useful read for beginners seeking to understand the query language and the RDF data model in general. Contains some good examples of query construction, many using an RDF representation of the periodic table familiar to most high school chemistry students.
